Trump , Zelensky And Vance In Oval Office
Trump and Zelensky Clash in Heated Meeting at White House

U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a tense argument at the White House on February 28, 2025. The meeting was mainly planned for the new agreement on minerals and peace talks with Russia, but it suddenly turned into a heated debate.
What Happened?
At the meeting both President Trump and Vice president JD Vance claimed Zelensky of not being grateful enough for the immense support that Ukraine has received from the U.S. Infact Trump also ended up criticising Ukraine for not trying harder to make peace with Russia. He even warned Zelensky, saying, “You’re gambling with World War III.”

Since the argument escalated, Trump even not minded in telling Zelensky to leave the White House, making it crystal clear that future conversation would only happen if Ukraine was ready for world peace.
Deal on Minerals Falls Apart
Since arguments took a new turn Trump even ended up cancelling the mineral deal with Ukraine but it was decided earlier that in the meeting they will have a business deal where the U.S. would get access to Ukraine’s rare earth minerals in exchange for continued military aid.
How Did Other Leaders React?
Many world leaders criticised Trump’s action towards Ukraine. For instance European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, showed their disagreement on that . They assured Zelensky that their countries still support Ukraine.
What This Means for Ukraine
Unfortunately this argument may affect how much help the U.S. offers to Ukraine in the coming future. It clearly showed via Trump’s comments that American aid might stop if Ukraine does not agree to accept the peace talks with Russia.
Zelensky’s Response
After the meeting ended Zelensky assured that he was completely correct and he did nothing wrong. He explained that Ukraine wants peace but needs strong security guarantees before talking to Russia.
This event has definitely raised concerns about the future of the U.S.-Ukraine relations and how the war with Russia will unfold.
